Texas buckeye (Aesculus arguta) is a deciduous species belonging to the Sapindaceae family. It is native to the south-central United States, typically found in limestone-rich habitats, rocky slopes, and moist lowland forests.

This species is highly regarded for its drought tolerance and heat resistance compared to other members of the genus. It thrives in open, sunny environments where it can develop a dense and symmetrical crown.
