The tree requires fertile, well-drained soil to support its vigorous growth. It is particularly sensitive to waterlogging, which can cause root decay, so selecting a site with good natural drainage or implementing artificial drainage is essential for plantation health.

Botanically, Artocarpus chama is characterized by its broad, leathery leaves and a robust root system. The tree produces large, compound fruits that serve as a source of carbohydrates for both local wildlife and human populations in its native range.

Economically, the species is valued for both its edible fruits and its high-quality timber. The fruit pulp is cooked in various traditional dishes, while the seeds are often roasted. The wood is prized for its durability, making it an excellent choice for local furniture making and construction.
