Cyprinidae

The roots of these plants, which are constantly submerged in nutrient-rich water, become a target for foraging fish when artificial food sources are insufficient.
Biologically, many Cyprinids are opportunistic omnivores. This behavior is intensified during the fry and juvenile stages of the fish life cycle.
