Sunflower Iskander is a new high-yielding hybrid from the Romanian company "Quality Crops", distinguished by its early maturity with a vegetation period of 105-108 days. Plants reach a height of 130-140 cm, have medium-sized downward-facing heads. Seeds are large, black, with high oil content — from 48 to 52%, making this hybrid particularly attractive for oil production.
The Iskander hybrid exhibits high drought and heat tolerance, enabling successful cultivation in various regions and on different soil types, including the Forest Steppe and Steppe of Ukraine. It is adapted to the "Sumo" technology using tribenuron-methyl at a rate of 25-30 g/ha, which effectively controls weeds and improves agronomic performance. The optimal planting density is approximately 50,000 plants per hectare.
Iskander is highly resistant to common diseases and pests. It is genetically resistant to races A, B, C, D, E and F of downy mildew, sunflower moth, cutworm, white rot, rust, fomopsis, and peronospora. The potential yield of the hybrid reaches 4.2-4.4 tons per hectare, making it a profitable choice for farmers seeking a stable and high-quality sunflower crop.
