Brassolaeliocattleya is a complex orchid hybrid derived from the interbreeding of Brassavola, Laelia, and Cattleya species. Belonging to the Orchidaceae family, this cultivar is celebrated for its spectacular, highly fragrant flowers and robust, succulent pseudobulbs.
These orchids thrive in bright, filtered light. During the peak growing season, providing temperatures between 20°C and 28°C is essential for maintaining vigorous metabolism. Proper ventilation is critical to simulate their native tropical environment and prevent the accumulation of stagnant air.
The substrate must be porous and provide high drainage, typically consisting of medium-to-coarse pine bark mixed with charcoal and perlite. A well-aerated medium is the most important factor in preventing the suffocation and subsequent rotting of the root system.
Watering requirements follow a cyclical pattern based on light intensity and temperature. The medium should be allowed to dry out significantly between watering sessions. Overwatering is the most common cause of crop failure, necessitating a careful balance based on the current season.
