Biology and lifecycle: The lifecycle of Trichogramma is strictly dependent on the presence of host eggs. The adult female locates a host egg and inserts her own egg inside it. The developing larva feeds on the content of the host egg, eventually killing the developing pest embryo. The entire development period is rapid, typically lasting from 7 to 14 days, allowing for several generations within a single growing season.

As they target the egg stage, they prevent the subsequent damage caused by caterpillars, such as leaf stripping, stem boring, and fruit destruction.
