They primarily target vegetables, sugar beets, cereals, and various legumes, often causing localized outbreaks in fields with continuous monoculture practices.

Biology and life cycle: The life cycle involves the hatching of second-stage juveniles from cysts stimulated by root exudates. After penetrating the roots, the larvae establish a complex feeding site known as a syncytium. While males remain motile and worm-like, females become sedentary, swollen, and eventually break through the root surface to become cysts, which contain hundreds of viable eggs.
