Potato Tiras

Reliable Early-Maturing Variety

The 'Tiras' variety, developed by the Institute of Potato Research of the NAAS of Ukraine, is a go-to choice for those prioritizing a quick harvest cycle of 55-65 days. For any operator, this means minimizing risks associated with long-term field exposure and faster turnover. Tiras is known for its robust defense mechanisms, making daily management and chemical control programs much more efficient.

Field Resistance and Operational Efficiency

Dealing with common potato diseases like late blight, common scab, and stem nematode can be a significant cost driver. Tiras provides natural resistance to these threats, ensuring the crop remains healthy without constant intensive intervention. The tubers feature a smooth pink skin and an elongated-oval shape, which is highly appreciated in automated grading and cleaning lines, reducing mechanical losses and improving yield efficiency.

Key Performance Indicators

• Tubers and Handling: Medium-depth eyes and smooth skin texture facilitate easy mechanical harvesting and processing.
• Quality Profile: With a starch content of 12-13% and firm white flesh, this variety offers excellent culinary qualities, maintaining its texture during cooking.
• Market Value: The combination of early maturity and resistance to rot ensures a high-quality product that meets commercial standards for table potatoes.

Tiras is designed for efficiency. It is a stable, climate-adapted variety that delivers consistent results, making it a reliable workhorse for any early-season potato operation.
