The seeds of the plant exhibit high longevity in the soil, maintaining viability for several years. Mass germination typically occurs in late spring when soil temperatures reach optimal levels, allowing seeds to awaken after their dormant winter period.

The planting depth of seeds under natural conditions is shallow, but cultivation practices can easily bury them in deeper soil layers. Optimal germination windows occur between late May and early June, depending on local climatic conditions.

The plant possesses a robust root system that allows it to compete successfully with crop plants for essential soil nutrients. Rapid vegetative growth in the early stages gives nightshade a significant advantage over many agricultural crops.

To prevent the spread of this species in fields, it is recommended to perform pre-sowing cultivation, which encourages the germination of dormant seeds, followed by their elimination via herbicides or mechanical methods.

This species is characterized by high ecological plasticity and is capable of growing on a wide range of soil types. It thrives best in loamy and sandy soils that provide adequate moisture levels during the active vegetation period.

The plant is somewhat demanding regarding light exposure; while shading from dense crop canopies reduces its photosynthetic rate, it still retains the capacity to produce seeds under suboptimal lighting conditions.

Agrotechnical requirements mainly involve managing the moisture of the topsoil layer. In arid conditions, plant development slows down, but it utilizes even minimal rainfall with extreme efficiency to sustain its vital biological functions.

A key factor for development is the lack of excessive competition from crop plants in the first few weeks after emergence. In nitrogen-deficient soils, the plant may show signs of stress but remains remarkably resilient.

Effective control within an agroecosystem relies on proper crop rotation, which should include species that suppress broadleaf weeds through high planting density and effective ground cover.

Cutleaf nightshade is susceptible to a complex of pathogens typical for the Solanaceae family. Among the most dangerous diseases is late blight, which can cause premature leaf senescence and a significant reduction in the plant's reproductive success.

Furthermore, the plant can serve as a reservoir for viral infections such as mosaic viruses, posing a threat to nearby potatoes, tomatoes, and peppers. These viruses are often transmitted by sap-sucking insects that migrate from weeds to crops.

Among pests, the Colorado potato beetle and various species of aphids cause the most damage. Beetle larvae can completely skeletonize the leaves, yet the plant's high regenerative capacity often allows it to produce seeds even under heavy infestation.

Powdery mildew is also frequently observed on the plant in the second half of the summer. It appears as a white coating on the leaves, disrupting metabolic processes and weakening the plant before the seed maturation phase.

In high-humidity conditions, root rot development is possible. These diseases attack the root zone, causing wilting of the aerial parts and eventual death, which acts as a limiting factor for the plant in waterlogged areas.
