Evening Primrose family
The plant originates from the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, where it frequently colonizes burnt or disturbed forest lands. This ecological adaptability makes it a relatively low-maintenance crop. It thrives in various soil types, ranging from sandy loams to slightly acidic forest soils, provided they offer good drainage and exposure to direct sunlight.
