Sowing dates
The Italian evening primrose (Oenothera italica) belongs to the Onagraceae family. For successful germination, the soil needs stable warming, so sowing is typically carried out in the spring when the soil temperature reaches 10–12 degrees Celsius.
Late autumn sowing at the end of October is also possible. In this case, the seeds undergo natural stratification in the soil, which facilitates more uniform emergence in the following spring.
When sowing, it is important to consider the small size of the seeds, so they are planted at a shallow depth not exceeding 0.5–1 centimeter to allow sprouts to easily reach the surface.
The sowing rate depends on the chosen cultivation method, but row planting with spacing up to 45–60 centimeters is most common to provide optimal nutrition area.
Once the first true leaves appear, seedlings should be thinned out, leaving about 20–30 centimeters between plants to allow for the full development of the aerial part.
Growing requirements

Harvesting is performed by direct combining under favorable weather conditions, aiming to minimize mechanical damage to the seed material.
After harvesting, the seeds must be immediately cleaned of impurities and dried to a moisture content of 8–9 percent to prevent spoilage during storage.
