The brome grass variety «Erkeeni» is the result of work by Yakut breeders, created specifically for floodplain mowing lands. It is characterized by high winter hardiness and resistance to the severe climatic conditions of Central Yakutia, allowing it to develop successfully even in low-temperature conditions.
«Erkeeni» yield demonstrates stable indicators: green mass reaches 9.7–12.2 t/ha, and hay – 3.7–4.5 t/ha at a vegetation height of 75 to 117 cm. In the third year of life, the plants show maximum development, which makes this variety especially valuable for perennial hay harvesting. About half of the yield consists of generative shoots, while the rest are vegetative shoots and leaves.
Seed productivity of the variety is in the range of 1.4–1.6 c/ha, while the mass of 1000 seeds is approximately 3.8 g. Moreover, «Erkeeni» ensures a high level of crude protein content – from 20% to 22%, which makes it attractive for animal feed base. Thanks to the combination of good hay and seed yield, as well as a high nutritional composition, this variety becomes an effective solution for farmers seeking to increase the productivity of their mowing lands in northern climate conditions.
