Smooth brome Favorit

Endurance-focused landscaping: The Favorit Smooth Brome

In the landscape industry, establishing a dense, traffic-tolerant turf requires genetic material with high tillering energy. The 'Favorit' variety, developed by experts at the Moscow Selection Station, is engineered specifically to meet these demanding requirements. Unlike standard wild brome populations, this variety exhibits a clear turf-type profile, making it a reliable choice for long-term landscaping projects.

Core strengths and physical advantages

• Sod formation: 'Favorit' develops a dense rhizomatous root system that binds the soil tightly, providing exceptional resistance to foot traffic and mechanical wear. This makes it a preferred solution for public parks and recreational sports fields.
• Climate resilience: Selected for its ability to withstand harsh winters and variable spring conditions, the variety demonstrates excellent cold hardiness and rapid recovery, ensuring a consistent green cover throughout the season.
• Growth management: While its root system is aggressive, its vegetative growth is moderate. This significantly reduces the frequency of mowing required compared to forage-type brome varieties.

Who is this variety for?

This is the optimal solution for professional contractors managing high-traffic sites, from slope stabilization along roadsides to public lawns. 'Favorit' bridges the gap between functional utility and visual appeal, offering a deep emerald color that lasts.

Points to consider: As a rhizomatous grass, 'Favorit' is highly competitive. It should not be planted near delicate flower beds where it might encroach on other species. Additionally, it performs poorly in waterlogged conditions; therefore, site drainage is essential for achieving the best results with this variety.
