Bromus inermis, or smooth brome, is a perennial rhizomatous grass reaching heights of up to 100 cm. Its powerful fibrous root system penetrates the soil to depths of up to two meters, providing drought resistance and withstanding prolonged flooding of the site. Thanks to its root reproduction, new shoots sprout from spreading roots, allowing the plant to quickly cover large areas.
The seeds of the ‘Morshansky 312’ variety have high winter hardiness and develop well in both cold and hot climates. The plant prefers sunny, open areas with moist soils but does not tolerate prolonged flooding. Due to its resistance to adverse conditions, brome provides a stable yield of green mass even in poor years.
Smooth brome is valued as fodder for livestock and wild animals. Seeds are used when sowing hayfields, pastures, land reclamation, and slope stabilization where rapid soil cover and erosion resistance are required.
