The red fescue variety Reverent is a slow-growing lawn with a dense root system, characterized by high shade tolerance and resistance to diseases and drought, as well as low maintenance requirements. It forms a dense and even cover, maintaining its green color even in shaded areas, making it ideal for decorative lawns, landscape design, urban parks, and sports greening.
Reverent is often used as a component of various grass mixtures. In one popular mixture, it comprises 20% of the composition, combining with Borneo couchgrass, Bornito sheep's fescue, Hennietta ryegrass, and Brooklawn and Hilda fine fescues, creating an elegant "carpet" with a homogeneous structure. In another mixture, its share reaches 25%, in combination with modified Aida couchgrass, Fancy ryegrass, and Talgo, which ensures high wear resistance and rapid regeneration.
For planting, a sowing rate of 2–3 kg/100 m² (for pure variety) or 1 kg per 30 m² when using mixtures is recommended. Site preparation includes removing debris, stones, and trash, loosening the soil to a depth of 15–20 cm, leveling the surface, and rolling. Sowing is done in a cross pattern, after which the seeds are covered with a thin layer of soil (0.5–1 cm) and compacted. In the first few weeks, constant watering for 3–4 weeks is required.
After reaching a height of about 10 cm, the first mowing should be carried out; thereafter, regular mowing maintains the density of the cover. Watering on hot days is recommended twice a day, and fertilization with nitrogen fertilizers in spring and summer, and in autumn with fertilizers low in potassium and phosphorus. Reverent differs in its environmental safety and does not require a significant amount of fertilizers, making it an attractive choice for sustainable greening.
