Alfalfa Rosinka

Genetic Potential and Adaptability

The "Rosynka" alfalfa is a product of long-term breeding by the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute (NAAS, Odesa). The cultivar is designed to create a high-yield stand capable of maintaining its nutritional value over 4–5 years of intensive use. A key feature of its genetics is a robust resistance to a complex of common diseases, including fusarium and bacteriosis, which is crucial for yield stability in regions prone to high humidity or sharp temperature fluctuations.

Agrobiological Characteristics

• Regrowth Rate: The cultivar demonstrates rapid regrowth after each cut, allowing for 3–4 full cuts per growing season.
• Stem Structure: The leafiness of "Rosynka" reaches 45–50%, which directly correlates with a high protein concentration (up to 20–22%) and excellent digestibility for cattle.
• Root System: A well-developed taproot ensures deep penetration into the soil profile, providing drought resistance and efficient moisture uptake from lower horizons.

The practical advantage of "Rosynka" lies in the balance between dry matter yield and raw material quality. This cultivar is highly effective for both haylage and high-quality hay production. Its broad adaptability to various soil types, including chernozems and chestnut soils of the steppe zone, makes it a reliable asset in fodder production.
