Tussock grass – a perennial grain grass grown both for hay production and as green mass. Its dense stems are rich in trace elements and vitamins, making tussock grass an excellent feed for livestock. Thanks to its dense structure and high nutrient content, it provides complete nutrition for cattle.
The crop is distinguished by a well-developed root system reaching a depth of more than two meters. This gives the plant drought resistance and allows it to maintain productivity even under unfavorable climatic conditions. Tussock grass does not require specific soil and copes well with severe winter frosts, which makes it easy to grow in various regions.
When preparing hay, it is important to avoid flowering to avoid coarsening of the grass. Under optimal conditions, tussock grass can yield two full harvests, and with a sowing rate of 180–200 g per 100 m², up to 100 tons of hay per hectare can be obtained. In a pasture, the plant withstands five grazing cycles, providing a stable feed flow for cattle.
