Fescue OTARIA

Why «Otaria» stands out in professional landscaping

When it comes to high-traffic landscapes, standard lawn mixes often fail to provide the necessary durability. The tall fescue variety «Otaria», developed by Delley Seeds and Plants in collaboration with experts from Agroscope and Feldsaaten Freudenberger, is engineered to overcome the limitations of ordinary decorative grasses.

Key performance indicators

• Advanced Disease Resistance: «Otaria» shows exceptional tolerance to Helminthosporium and powdery mildew. This reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications, making it a sustainable choice for large-scale landscaping.
• Consistent Aesthetics: The variety maintains a vibrant green color throughout the growing season. With a plant height of 60–100 cm, it is versatile enough for both neat decorative lawns and robust landscaping projects.
• Resilience: As a tall fescue, «Otaria» features a deep, well-developed root system, ensuring survival in areas with irregular irrigation or drought-prone conditions.

Application and Maintenance

To achieve a lush, weed-resistant turf, we recommend a seeding rate of 20–30 g/m². This density creates a thick sod that effectively suppresses weed growth, reducing manual labor requirements. «Otaria» is specifically suited for urban green spaces, recreational areas, and grounds that require both visual appeal and mechanical strength.

Unlike more fragile species, «Otaria» is forgiving for those new to lawn maintenance, yet it offers the professional quality demanded by commercial landscapers. By following the recommended seeding guidelines, you secure a healthy, long-lasting green cover that performs consistently across various environmental conditions.
