Lolium perenne «Novosibirskaya 21» – seeds of an annual or biennial crop, grown as summer and autumn wheat. The variety belongs to the Festuca pratensis group and is widely used in agriculture for producing hay, fodder, and silage grasses.
Key characteristics include high protein content (12–14 %) and moderate starch content, ensuring good stickiness and shrinkage during baking. The grain is large-sized, light brown in color, with a density of 1.5–2.0 g/ml. Yield under optimal conditions reaches 1.6–2.0 t/ha, and in some regions can reach up to 3,000–4,000 kg/ha when grown as a fodder crop.
The variety exhibits moderate resistance to powdery percolosis, gray mold, and fungal diseases (powdery mildew). Successful growth requires fertile, well-drained soil in temperate climate zones. Optimal sowing temperature is 15–20 °C, and the vegetation period ranges from 90 to 120 days. With proper care and disease prevention (application of fungicides, adherence to irrigation schedules), «Novosibirskaya 21» ensures a stable yield and high-quality grain for large livestock feed.
