Fescue Lyubava

Stability and Longevity of Grass Cover

Meadow fescue variety 'Lyubava' is a product of breeding efforts by the A.G. Lorch Federal Potato Research Center. This variety has carved a niche in the fodder production market as a reliable component for perennial grass mixtures. Designed for high adaptability, 'Lyubava' performs consistently in various climates, making it highly sought after for both industrial agriculture and the creation of durable lawn surfaces subject to heavy traffic.

Agronomic Potential and Resilience

The core strength of this model lies in its biological hardiness. The plant reaches a height of 60–100 cm, forming a dense turf that withstands significant mechanical stress. A key feature of 'Lyubava' is its genetic resistance to common pathogens:

• Powdery mildew: The variety rarely succumbs to fungal attacks, even in high-humidity conditions;
• Root rot: The robustness of the root system ensures the longevity of the grass stand, preventing premature thinning over many years.

High resistance to trampling makes it a top choice for land management where a balance between aesthetics and durability is essential. Its root system actively anchors the soil, mitigating erosion, while the foliage recovers rapidly after intensive mowing or grazing.

Practical Application

In the market, 'Lyubava' has built a reputation as a workhorse variety. Producers value it for the predictability of its growth cycle: it regrows quickly in the spring and maintains its green mass well into late autumn. It is an optimal selection for hayfields and pastures focused on high-nutrient green fodder, as well as for landscaping recreational and athletic areas where ground strength is a priority.
