Darwin brand 'Red' Oatgrass is a high-quality seed material intended for sowing in temperate climate conditions. The seeds are characterized by high germination rates up to 95% and resistance to major diseases: fungal rot, powdery rust, and leafy phytophthora. The reddish color of the seeds indicates a high content of krachin, which ensures good nutritional value of the grain.
Average yield is 8–10 t/ha with dense sowing at a distance of 30–35 cm between rows. Recommended planting temperature is 15–20 °C; the optimal period is late spring and early summer. With proper care, the seeds produce high grain density and good flesh quality, making them suitable both for grain production and for feed.
Shelf life is up to 12 months at a temperature of 4–10 °C and relative humidity not exceeding 60%. To achieve maximum yield, complex fertilizers (N-P-K) in a ratio of 1:0.5:2 are recommended, as well as preventive measures against fungal diseases. By following all recommendations, 'Red' oatgrass provides a stable and high-quality result on any site.
