Description SWEDISH
Swedish oatgrass – a variety of grass plants in the Poaceae family, including several cultivars valued both for decorative lawn design and agricultural use. Its popularity stems from high resistance to various climatic conditions: frost, drought, and the ability to retain a rich green hue even under snow. Thanks to dense growth and good germination, oatgrass quickly forms a flat cover, making it ideal for open sunny areas.

The variety is characterized by a compact shape and bright leaves – grey-blue, silvery, or blue-green shades. Plant height varies from 10 to 150 cm, while stems can be erect or subterranean. Leaves are narrow, needle-like, sometimes covered with a rough surface, which increases their resistance to harmful conditions. Flowering occurs in June-July, during which small ears up to 5 mm long appear.

Care for oatgrass is simple: regular cleaning of dry leaves and pruning of flower heads helps maintain an aesthetic appearance, while replanting every two to three years ensures long-term productivity. The plant is easy to propagate both by division and seeds, making it convenient for gardeners and farmers. Thanks to the combination of decorative qualities and practical value, Swedish oatgrass becomes a demanded material both in city parks and on agricultural pastures.
