Sea buckthorn ALTAISKAYA

Why «Altayskaya» is a gardener's favorite

When it comes to sea buckthorn, most gardeners remember scratched hands and the painful harvest process. With the «Altayskaya» variety from FANTSA, the situation is completely different. This turns bush maintenance and berry picking from a struggle into a simple, routine garden task that even a beginner can handle.

Yield and Taste

The average weight of a fruit ranges from 0.7 to 0.9 g. The orange berries have a balanced sweet-and-sour taste, making them perfect for fresh consumption. Unlike wild varieties, the pulp here is firmer, which keeps the berries from losing their shape during transport in a basket.

Plant Health and Resilience

«Altayskaya» handles the two main threats to sea buckthorn—verticillium wilt and fusarium wilt—exceptionally well. This means the bush won't just «burn out» in the middle of summer without reason, maintaining its decorative appearance throughout the season. The crop does not require heavy chemical treatments against these pathogens, which allows for a cleaner, more natural product.

Practical Care Tips

• Planting: Choose well-lit areas. Sea buckthorn is extremely light-loving; in the shade, the yield drops by almost half.
• Watering: The variety is responsive to moisture, but it does not tolerate stagnant water at the roots.
• Pruning: Thanks to the lack of thorns, you can prune the crown without needing heavy-duty protective gloves, which speeds up the work significantly.

If you are looking for a variety for personal use, where not only the yield matters but also the ease of harvest, «Altayskaya» will become a staple in your garden.
