ALTAISKAYA

Sea buckthorn "Altayskaya" is a variety that combines high yield with excellent taste value. The berries are light orange, weigh from 0.7 to 0.9 grams, have a sour-sweet taste without bitterness, and after freezing acquire a pleasant apple-ananas aroma. The fruit skin is tender and thin, giving the berries a delicate appearance, while the pulp has a bright aroma.

The plant is medium-sized, the bush height is 3–4 meters, with a not too spreading crown, which makes it convenient for planting in gardens of various sizes. Sea buckthorn "Altayskaya" differs in high winter hardiness: it withstands temperatures up to -35 °C (in some sources up to -40 °C) and is resistant to diseases. Young seedlings require protection from severe frosts, but adult plants withstand low temperatures without loss of productivity.

The yield reaches 10–16 kg of berries from one bush in the fifth–sixth year after planting. Flowering begins in late April–early May, and fruits ripen from late August to mid-September. For successful fruiting, it is recommended to plant a male pollinator variety nearby at a distance of no more than 30 m from female plants. The optimal location is well-lit areas, preferably near water bodies where sufficient humidity is maintained. The planting scheme is usually 4×2 m.

The variety is known for the absence of thorns or their minimal size, which simplifies harvesting. Due to its endurance and ease of care, it is suitable for both novice gardeners and experienced farmers who want to get a quality product with high vitamin and microelement content.
