Sea buckthorn "Lybid" is a high-yielding spineless variety reaching heights of up to 3–3.5 m and ripening at the end of July–beginning of August. Fruits are large (0.8–1 g), oval in shape, rich yellow in color, and have a sweet-sour taste. One adult bush can yield from 16 to 20 kg of berries, and the yield increases each year after fruiting begins in the 3rd–4th year.
The variety is characterized by high frost resistance (up to –40 °C) and disease resistance. It grows excellently on sunny plots on any fertile, drained soil, does not require special conditions: moderate watering is sufficient, avoiding stagnant groundwater. The root system develops close to the surface, depth not exceeding 40 cm.
For optimal pollination, it is recommended to plant male plants (e.g., "Adam") in a ratio of one to three female plants. "Lybid" is a dioecious plant, pollinated by wind and insects. With proper placement and care, bushes can live up to 50 years while maintaining high productivity.
Sea buckthorn berries are rich in pectin, beta-carotene, vitamins (B1, B2, C, E, K) and minerals. They are used in medicine as a natural multivitamin product, have anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, and wound-healing properties. Sea buckthorn oil is used for skin diseases, frostbite, and also in cosmetics for hair and skin care.
