Sea buckthorn «Altayechk» – a hybrid seedling variety developed at NIIS (Barnaul) in 1966, recognized for its high yield and resistance to unfavorable conditions. The shrub or tree with a weak-crown canopy reaches heights of up to 3–4 m, with straight, light-green shoots and fruits that are elongated-oval, light-orange, and weigh about 57–61 g. They ripen in early September and detach easily, which facilitates harvest collection.
The nutritional properties of «Altayechk» make it a valuable product for both the food industry and feed production. The fruits contain 10–14% soluble substances, 5.2–6.3% sugars, 1.6–2.4% acids, and 78–173 mg/%, as well as carotenoids in the range of 3.6–10.1 mg. Thanks to these characteristics, they are used in cooking, cosmetology, freezing, and in the production of various products.
The variety is characterized by high seed germination rates (up to 90%) and resistance to diseases such as powdery rust, coleciysis, and fungal infections. It grows well in fertile, calcareous soils with a pH of 5.5–7.0 and is suitable for planting in both spring and autumn periods. Yields reach 9.5–12.5 t/ha at a planting scheme of 4 x 2 m, making it an attractive choice for farmers seeking to increase productivity and crop resilience.
