Mulberry Siesta

A Strategic Choice for Functional Orchards

The «Siesta» mulberry variety, developed by the I.V. Michurin Federal Scientific Center, represents a balanced approach to horticulture. It serves dual purposes: adding ornamental value to the landscape while maintaining high productivity levels expected in commercial fruit production.

Operational Use in Farm Management

Standing at 3–5 meters, the «Siesta» variety is designed for efficient canopy management. Its size facilitates easier pruning and harvesting, reducing labor costs during peak seasons. In farm planning, it is often utilized for boundary planting, serving as both an attractive green screen and a productive asset.

• Fresh Market Sales: The berries are well-suited for high-end retail, maintaining their quality through the supply chain.
• Processing Industry: Due to the sugar content and fruit texture, «Siesta» is an excellent choice for processors. It is widely used in the production of juices, artisanal jams, and preserves, offering high yield rates for processing operations.

Integrating this variety allows land managers to maximize yield per hectare while ensuring the orchard remains aesthetically pleasing. Whether for direct sale or high-value added products, «Siesta» provides a reliable and manageable crop for diverse farming scenarios.
