Description
Nivelena is a large-fruited sea buckthorn variety with a late maturity period, valued for its bright orange-yellow color and elongated berry shape, weighing up to 1 g. The fruits have a sweet-sour taste and aroma, making them popular both for home and industrial use.
Nivelena trees reach a height of 3.0 to 4.0 m and have a widely spreading canopy in the shape of an umbrella. The berry maturity period falls in late August to early September, and the yield is approximately 14–15 kg of fruits per tree. The seedling height at planting is usually 1.1–1.3 m, and the age is 2 years.
The variety is characterized by high frost resistance (down to -32…-35 °C), good drought tolerance, and resistance to diseases and pests. It adapts well to various soil types, including clay and sandy soils, and demonstrates stable productivity in moderate climates. Due to the high content of vitamins, antioxidants, folic acid, and flavonoids, Nivelena berries help strengthen the immune system, support blood pressure, and improve skin condition.
For successful cultivation, it is recommended to choose soils with good drainage and mineral composition, ensure regular watering during growth and fruiting periods, and apply mulch to maintain moisture. If necessary, fungicides and other natural methods of protection against pests and diseases can be used.
