The "Terravesta Athena" miscanthus is a breeding breakthrough from the British company Terravesta, officially registered in Ukraine in 2025. As a sterile triploid hybrid, this variety addresses the primary challenge of energy crops: it does not spread via self-seeding, making it environmentally safe and predictable for plantation management.

Processing and Technological Advantages

The primary purpose of "Athena" is industrial use and energy generation. Due to its high stem density and pronounced waxy coating, the biomass exhibits excellent calorific values. The large stem diameter and high concentration per unit area ensure a consistently high yield of dry matter per hectare.

• Transportability and Storage: The dense stem structure minimizes losses during mechanized harvesting. The high biomass density allows for efficient baling, which significantly reduces logistics costs when delivering to processing plants or boiler houses.
• Industrial Value: The variety is ideal for the production of pellets, briquettes, and bioethanol. The absence of awns and the balanced structure of the panicle facilitate the shredding and subsequent processing of the raw material.
