Sea buckthorn CHECHEK

Sea buckthorn 'Chechek': A horticultural breakthrough by FANSA

The 'Chechek' sea buckthorn variety, developed with the expertise of FANSA, is a prime example of combining ornamental appeal with high productivity. With its genetic origins rooted in the scientific expertise of the originator (Av Du Capitaine N Tchorere 80270 Airaines, France), this variety has solidified its reputation over years of cultivation as a reliable choice for both home gardens and intensive fruit production.

Agronomic Advantages

The key feature of 'Chechek' is its thornless shoots. This trait fundamentally changes the harvesting approach, turning a labor-intensive chore into a quick and comfortable process. The yield potential ranges between 10–15 kg per bush, which is an excellent benchmark for this category of sea buckthorn.

• Fruit Biochemistry: The orange berries have an average weight of 0.7–0.9g and a balanced sweet-and-sour flavor. A high vitamin C content (150–200 mg per 100g) makes this variety particularly valuable for processing.
• Resilience: The variety demonstrates strong immunity against verticillium and fusarium wilt, and possesses significant resistance to sea buckthorn fly infestations.

Market Positioning

Today, 'Chechek' is highly valued for its versatility. It is frequently utilized not only as a productive fruit crop but also as an ornamental landscape element due to its well-shaped canopy. Stable yields and high nutritional value make it a top choice for growers aiming for high-quality, eco-friendly produce with minimal need for chemical crop protection.
