Description NARAN
The 'Naran' sea buckthorn variety was developed at the Buryat Fruit and Berry Experimental Station and recognized in 1988 as a promising variety for dessert purposes. The bush is characterized by a dwarf, moderately spreading structure with thin, straight shoots of dark brown color, adorned with silver scales. Thorns are short and sparse, located along the entire length of the shoot, which facilitates fruit harvesting.

The fruits of the 'Naran' variety have an oval-cylindrical shape, average size of about 0.9 g, and a light orange skin with a thin texture. The taste is sour-sweet, accompanied by a delicate aroma, making the berries suitable for fresh consumption or dessert preparation. High content of vitamin C (≈202 mg/%) and 6.5% sugar give the fruit value as both food and therapeutic.

'Naran' is distinguished by high winter hardiness, disease resistance, in particular to fusarium wilt, as well as good yield - up to 12 t/ha. Ripening begins in mid-August, which allows planning harvest and subsequent processing. Due to the combination of taste qualities, nutritional value, and agrotechnical advantages, the 'Naran' variety is a sought-after choice for berry producers in the Eastern Siberian region.
