Sea buckthorn MOSCOW BEAUTY

Why "Moskovskaya Krasavitsa" is the gold standard of garden sea buckthorn

The "Moskovskaya Krasavitsa" variety, developed by the Botanical Garden of Lomonosov Moscow State University under the guidance of Tit Trofimovich Trofimov, has long outgrown its status as a mere ornamental plant. In challenging growing conditions, this variety stands out due to its high adaptability and a unique combination of traits that make it a benchmark choice for private orchards.

Key advantages

• Comprehensive resistance: The biggest challenge for sea buckthorn growers is verticillium and fusarium wilt. "Moskovskaya Krasavitsa" possesses a strong immunity to these fungal pathogens, sparing the gardener from constant fungicide treatments.
• Pest protection: The variety demonstrates resistance to the sea buckthorn fly, which is critical for maintaining fruit quality and integrity until harvest time.
• Ease of harvesting: The weakly thorny shoots are a huge benefit. Unlike wild forms, working with this variety is not a physical trial, allowing for harvests of up to 20 kg per bush with minimal effort.

Gastronomic and economic qualities

The berries, weighing 0.5–0.7 g, have a vibrant orange color and a balanced sweet-and-sour taste. This makes them suitable for universal use: from fresh consumption to making jams, juices, and medicinal oils. A yield of 15–20 kg per mature bush is an outstanding figure for MSU selection, providing a year-round supply of vitamins for the family.

Who is this variety for?

"Moskovskaya Krasavitsa" is the ideal solution for gardeners who value a balance between aesthetics and productivity. Thanks to its ornamental nature, the bush fits harmoniously into any landscape, while its high yield turns it into a serious productive asset. The variety is forgiving to beginners, yet it fully reveals its potential with basic watering and fertilization care.
