Sea buckthorn AJURNA

Technical Profile of Sea Buckthorn «Azhurnaya»

The breeding solution from FANCA is designed for commercial and private gardening, where harvest efficiency is a key parameter. Unlike wild varieties, the «Azhurnaya» cultivar was selected specifically to minimize operational costs during maintenance and harvesting.

Biological Defense and Morphology

A critical structural feature of this variety is the absence of thorns on the shoots. From a practical standpoint, this transforms the harvesting process from a laborious task into an efficient manual or mechanized operation. The lack of thorns prevents mechanical damage to the fruit skin, which significantly improves shelf life and commercial presentation.

• Phytosanitary Resilience: The genetic architecture of the cultivar is built around resistance to major pathogens. «Azhurnaya» demonstrates high tolerance to Verticillium and Fusarium wilt, diseases that typically threaten the root system of sea buckthorn.
• Pest Resistance: The variety possesses a biological barrier against the sea buckthorn fly, allowing for minimal use of insecticides and ensuring the production of high-quality, eco-friendly crops.

Performance Metrics

The berries are characterized by a vibrant orange color and a balanced flavor profile, combining sweetness with a subtle acidity. With a ripening period of 80–90 days, it allows for optimized harvest logistics in temperate climates. A yield capacity of 10–15 kg per bush classifies this cultivar as highly productive for intensive orchard management. Due to its universal application—ranging from processing and freezing to fresh market sales—«Azhurnaya» is a strategically sound choice for establishing a stable, high-yield orchard.
