Lutecens 7 (Lutecens 19) is a soft, awnless winter wheat variety belonging to the Lutecens group, registered in the Ukrainian Variety Register since 2009. It is an intensive type variety, characterized by high yield and strong dwarfing, with plant height reaching 90-99 cm. The vegetation period of this medium-early variety is 90-95 days, allowing its use for late sowing, including sowing after late predecessors such as corn and sugar beet. The 1000-grain weight varies from 40.4 to 50 g, indicating large kernel size and high seed quality.
The variety exhibits high resistance to adverse factors: drought tolerance, lodging resistance, and resistance to kernel shattering, as well as enhanced resistance to major wheat diseases, including powdery mildew, Fusarium head blight, and brown leaf rust. Thanks to these qualities, Lutecens 7 is suitable for intensive cultivation technologies with moderate doses of plant growth regulators. Additionally, the variety has high winter hardiness and demonstrates rapid early growth, contributing to stable and high yields.
The grain quality of Lutecens 7 is highly valued in milling and baking industries, as it belongs to category «A» with excellent milling and baking properties. It is characterized by high flour yield and can be used as a flour improver. The average yield of this variety is around 75 centners/ha, with potential reaching 80-90 centners/ha, and in some conditions up to 85-92 centners/ha. High response to nitrogen fertilizers further enhances productivity and grain quality, making Lutecens 7 a versatile and reliable choice for various agro-ecological zones.
