Wheat variety Novosmuglyanka is a medium-early, high-yielding variety with short stems and a vegetation period of 278–282 days. This variety is characterized by high drought resistance, resistance to lodging, shattering, and seed germination in the ear. Plant height ranges from 85 to 100 cm, and the 1000-grain weight varies between 40.4–46.5 g. Novosmuglyanka is suitable for cultivation in the Polissya, forest-steppe, and steppe zones, making it a versatile choice for various climatic conditions. The variety exhibits high resistance to major wheat diseases such as head fusarium, brown leaf rust, and powdery mildew. Due to these qualities and high resistance to pests, Novosmuglyanka ensures stable and high yields under proper care and crop protection. To achieve maximum productivity, fungicides should be applied after ear emergence, and nitrogen fertilizers should be applied during the booting to milk ripening stage, which improves grain quality. The cultivation technology for this variety is traditional, but it requires high levels of mineral nutrition and pest protection. Under these conditions, the variety can achieve yields up to 10.0 t/ha. The grain has high protein content (13.2–14.0 %) and crude gluten content (28.6–31.3 %), ensuring good and excellent baking and milling properties. The recommended seeding rate is 5.0–6.0 million germinating seeds per hectare, allowing optimal utilization of the variety's potential in farms with high agronomic standards.
