Darinka Kyivska

Winter soft wheat without awns 'Darinka Kyivska' is a medium-maturing, tall variety of intensive cultivation type, developed by the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and registered in the Ukrainian Variety Register in 2016. Plant height reaches 101-105 cm, and the vegetation period is 268-278 days. The 1000-grain weight varies from 42.7 to 49.4 g. The seed sowing rate is 5.5-6.0 million germinating seeds per hectare, depending on the cultivation zone and water availability.

The variety is characterized by high yield and stable performance under intensive mineral nutrition. Potential yield exceeds 100 ц/га, while average yields in farms reach 89.8-107.5 ц/га, with maximum values up to 116.3 ц/га. 'Darinka Kyivska' exhibits high cold and drought resistance, medium lodging resistance, and high resistance to shattering and pre-harvest sprouting. The variety also shows high tolerance to diseases such as powdery mildew, brown leaf rust, and Fusarium head blight.

The grain quality of 'Darinka Kyivska' is characterized by high protein content (13.2–14.5 %) and crude gluten (26.4–29.8 %). The variety provides excellent baking and milling properties: flour strength is 267-312 W, and loaf volume reaches 980-1050 ml. It is recommended to cultivate this variety using intensive technologies, including optimal doses of mineral fertilizers and growth regulators to achieve maximum productivity. Cultivation zones include the Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe regions of Ukraine.
