LUTESCENT 70 is an intensive type winter wheat variety belonging to the lutescent group. It is characterized by high productive tillering and spike type, ensuring high yield due to high spike earliness and thousand-kernel weight. The variety is mid-early, with a vegetation period of about 285-290 days, which allows for effective use in various climatic zones. Potential grain yield reaches 90-100 c/ha, while the maximum registered yield is 7.36 t/ha. Plant height varies from 70 to 85 cm, and the spike type is pyramidal of medium density. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to grain shattering, root rots, brown leaf rust, powdery mildew, leaf septoria, and head fusarium. Moreover, LUTESCENT 70 possesses enhanced frost hardiness and winter hardiness, as well as above-average drought tolerance, making it a reliable choice for growing in various regions of Ukraine, including Forest-Steppe, Steppe, and Polesie. The variety is also resistant to lodging, which contributes to maintaining crop quality. The grain quality of the LUTESCENT 70 variety is high: gluten content is 28.7-29.2%, thousand-kernel weight is about 40.4 g, grain natural weight is 744 g/l, slope similarity is 93%, protein content is 14.5%, and sedimentation index is 67 ml. Flour strength reaches 361 arbitrary units, indicating good baking properties. The variety is distinguished by high ecological plasticity and unpretentiousness to growing conditions, which allows for successful use in intensive agrotechnologies and obtaining stable high yields.
