The 'Eureka' wheat variety is a winter, awned type, characterized by a medium-height plant (87-100 cm). The ear is cylindrical, loose, medium length, with awns on lower glumes; the ear is brittle and breaks apart during threshing, allowing for 70–85% grain extraction. The grain is red, glassy, with a 1000-grain weight of 43-53 g, and light phenolic coloration. Wax coating is pronounced on the ear, flag leaf sheath, and upper internodes of the stem. The lower glume's awn is medium-sized, short, and slightly curved. The variety is medium-maturing with high yield potential. 'Eureka' exhibits high resistance to lodging, shattering, drought, powdery mildew, rust, Fusarium ear rot, and pests such as the wheat fly and grain bug. It possesses enhanced winter hardiness and is adaptable to various growing conditions, making it a reliable choice across diverse agroclimatic zones. In 2018 and 2019, at UIRCS test sites in the Forest-Steppe zone, average yields reached 61.5–62.9 centners per hectare, with some regions like Sumy and Cherkasy Oblasts exceeding 80 centners per hectare. Additionally, 'Eureka' demonstrates excellent baking qualities. Protein content in the grain ranges from 12.9% to 16.3% in the Forest-Steppe zone and reaches 22.8% in the Steppe zone, while gluten content may reach up to 30.5%. These characteristics make this variety attractive for producing high-quality flour and bakery products. Due to its combination of high yield, resistance to adverse factors, and excellent grain processing properties, 'Eureka' is a promising variety for cultivation in various regions.
