Potato variety Smolyanochka is a medium-early table variety of Russian selection, intended for cultivation in the Central region. The plant is tall, intermediate type, with semi-upright form, medium-sized green leaves, and a flower with medium size and intense anthocyanic coloration on the inner side. The vegetation period is about 65-84 days, allowing to obtain harvest in relatively short time.
The tubers of the Smolyanochka variety are round, with small eyes, partially red skin, and white flesh. The marketable tuber mass varies from 108 to 136 grams, and the number of tubers per plant reaches 9-14 pieces. The starch content is within 14.0-16.0%, making this potato versatile for various cooking methods, including frying, boiling, and baking. The taste of tubers is rated as good to excellent, and the culinary type BC confirms their high consumer qualities.
The variety is characterized by high market yield, ranging from 168 to 422 centners per hectare, with maximum values reaching 461 centners per hectare, exceeding the standards of the Nevsky variety. The tuber storability reaches 97%, ensuring good preservation during storage. Smolyanochka exhibits resistance to several diseases and pests: potato cancer pathogen, golden potato cyst nematode, crinkly mosaic, and leaf curling. According to the VNIIF's phytosanitary data, the variety shows moderate resistance to phytophthora on foliage and moderate susceptibility on tubers, requiring adherence to agronomic measures for crop protection.
