Pea Konto

Field Performance of Konto Peas

When dealing with German breeding from NPZ Lembke, you expect reliability. The Konto pea variety behaves exactly like that in the field — it is a stable "workhorse" that doesn't require complex or risky agronomic maneuvers. The first thing you notice when inspecting the crops is the uniformity of germination and the consistency in plant height.

For an equipment operator, the medium stem height is a major advantage. Unlike taller varieties that are prone to lodging, Konto stands firm. This significantly eases the combine harvester's operation: there is no need to "shave" the ground with the header, picking up stones and soil, which is crucial for extending the life of knives and segments. Harvesting losses are minimal, even under less-than-ideal weather conditions at the end of the season.

Operational and Agronomic Insights

• Stress Resistance: The variety demonstrates impressive plasticity. Even during moisture deficits in critical growth phases, the plants do not "burn out" immediately but continue their vegetation.
• Harvest Efficiency: The crop reaches maturity uniformly. This allows you to deploy machinery once and finish the job without multiple passes.
• Grain Quality: Elevators accept it without issues — the grain is well-filled, clean, and possesses excellent test weight parameters.

Managing these crops boils down to a standard protection program. The variety is not "fussy"; it responds well to micronutrient applications but delivers results that match its full genetic potential even without them. If you need a variety that won't cause headaches during harvest time and provides a predictable yield per hectare, Konto by NPZ Lembke remains one of the most reliable options in any grower's portfolio.
