Pea Mascara

Stable yields with minimal risk

German breeding from KWS is synonymous with reliability, and the 'Mascara' variety is a prime example. This semi-leafless (tendril-type) pea was developed in response to farmers' demands for maximum technological efficiency. In an era where harvest timelines are frequently disrupted by unpredictable weather, the crop's ability to maintain grain quality until the final day is paramount.

Agronomic Profile

'Mascara' is categorized as a mid-early variety with a growing season of 75–85 days. This development cycle allows for efficient harvest planning, avoiding peak machinery stress. The semi-leafless architecture provides robust stem support by forming a network of interlocked tendrils. This effectively prevents lodging, which is critical for securing high-quality, clean grain.

Efficiency and Defense

• Direct Harvesting: Due to its plant architecture, the variety performs exceptionally well during direct harvesting. Losses are minimized, and the purity of the grain in the hopper meets the expectations of even the most demanding growers.
• Phytosanitary Barrier: KWS genetics ensure high resistance to Fusarium wilt and Ascochyta blight. These are not just figures on a datasheet, but a practical tool for reducing fungicide application costs.
• Production Goals: This variety is specifically optimized for high-quality commercial grain production, making it a preferred choice for farms targeting both export markets and domestic processing.

Choosing 'Mascara' is an investment in predictable outcomes. In the grain pea segment, this variety stands out as a reliable 'workhorse' that tolerates minor management errors while delivering stable yields across a wide range of soil and climatic conditions.
