Pea Corvet

Technical Profile of the 'Korvet' Pea

Developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute of NAAS, the 'Korvet' variety is a breeding solution focused on minimizing harvest losses. The biological basis of the variety lies in its 'leafless' (tendrilled) morphotype. This is not merely a structural feature: the absence of leaf blades is compensated by highly developed tendrils that interlock to form a rigid canopy, resistant to lodging even in high-moisture conditions.

Adaptability and Phytosanitary Resilience

Korvet acts as a tool for reducing fungicide pressure. Genetically embedded resistance to a complex of pathogens, including root rots, fusarium, and ascochyta blight, allows the plant to maintain yield potential during seasons with unfavorable infectious pressure. The variety exhibits a stable vegetation period of 90-100 days, making it a predictable element in crop rotation systems.

Harvesting Specifications

• Suitability for direct combining: Thanks to its semi-dwarf architecture and high inter-plant connectivity, the crop stands upright, minimizing losses at the header.
• Nutrient profile: With a 1000-seed weight of 240-260 grams, the variety ensures high grain quality. A protein content of 22-24% makes it highly valued for both feed and industrial processing.

This variety is optimized for intensive grain production technologies, where harvest efficiency and minimal mechanical grain loss are the critical success factors.
