Maize Argentum

Steppe-bred resilience in every seed

The 'Argentum' hybrid, developed by the Institute of Steppe Agriculture (NAAS of Ukraine), is designed for growers who prioritize reliability over speculative records. Unlike high-input imported hybrids that struggle when conditions fall short of ideal, Argentum is built for the harsh realities of the Ukrainian steppe, offering consistent performance under water stress and variable temperatures.

Why Argentum stands out

• Dual-Purpose Versatility. Whether your priority is high-quality grain or nutritious, leafy silage, Argentum adapts seamlessly. This flexibility allows farm managers to optimize crop utilization based on seasonal demand.
• Uniformity and Harvest Efficiency. Being a simple hybrid, Argentum provides excellent crop uniformity. This makes combine harvesting significantly more efficient, reducing field losses and simplifying operational logistics.
• Drought Adaptability. Its genetic foundation, forged in the arid climate of the southern steppe, ensures efficient water usage and high pollen fertility, even when rainfall is suboptimal.

Agronomic Insights

To maximize yields, the recommended planting density is 80,000–85,000 plants per hectare. This density strikes the perfect balance between nutrient competition and individual plant development. While Argentum is known for its robustness, providing optimal seedbed preparation will allow the root system to establish itself early, setting the stage for a resilient crop season.

Who is this hybrid for?

Argentum is the ideal choice for producers practicing rational agriculture. It is an honest, high-performing hybrid that doesn't require excessive expenditure on high-intensity protocols. If your strategy is based on predictable, stable outcomes rather than gambling on perfect weather conditions, Argentum provides the sturdy foundation your crop rotation needs.
