Balltrap

Winter pea variety Balltrap is an early-maturing and high-yielding variety developed by the French company Florimond Desprez. This variety is ideal for sowing in October and can also be sown early in spring under suitable soil conditions. Plants are of medium height — around 76-80 cm, with yellow, round pods, each containing 6-7 seeds. Balltrap is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and pod diseases, ensuring reliable and stable yields.

The variety exhibits high ecological plasticity, allowing cultivation in various agro-ecological zones, including Steppes, Forest-Steppe, and Polесье. It is not demanding regarding predecessors and is suitable for most soil types, except heavy and wet soils. For successful cultivation, seed sowing depth should be 5-6 cm, and plant height should be around 4 cm for good winter survival.

Balltrap is characterized by high productivity — average yield is 46 ц/ha, with potential up to 60 ц/ha. The 1000-seed weight reaches 187 g, and the seed protein content is 24%, making this variety attractive for producing high-quality seed material and obtaining high-profit yields. Sowing rate is 1.0 million viable seeds per hectare.
