Lupin GRENADE

Technical Profile of the 'Grenader' Lupin

The 'Grenader' variety is a specialized cultivar of narrow-leaf lupin developed by the breeding team at the Upper Volga Federal Agrarian Scientific Center (A. M. Tyslenko, L. I. Eskova, M. N. Novikov). Its primary designation is ornamental landscape gardening, a function that dictates specific morphological and biological criteria for the cultivar.

Architectural and Morphological Characteristics

• Vegetative Structure: The plant exhibits a balanced habitus typical of ornamental forms, ensuring resistance to lodging and maintaining an aesthetic appearance throughout the growing season.
• Biological Hardiness: The variety is adapted to the climate of Central Russia, providing winter hardiness and high resistance to common legume pathogens. This inherent resistance is critical for maintaining visual quality without relying on intensive fungicide applications.
• Breeding Focus: The selection work by the FANC team focused on stabilizing traits that promote uniform inflorescence development, making the variety ideal for both individual and group planting in landscape design.

Practical Application

For landscaping companies and agricultural enterprises, 'Grenader' serves as an effective tool for soil improvement (sideration) combined with an ornamental function. Its deep root system enhances soil structure, while high atmospheric nitrogen fixation makes it a productive precursor in crop rotation. Given its low maintenance requirements and minimal need for specialized agricultural handling, 'Grenader' is a highly efficient choice for landscape projects that prioritize long-term sustainability and visual impact.
