Lupine 'Grenade' is a perennial decorative plant that is easy to grow in both shade and sun. It does not require frequent watering; it is sufficient to maintain soil moisture only during particularly dry periods. The plant roots quickly, but transplanting is not recommended - it is better to plant it immediately in a permanent place.
Flowering occurs in May and continues until June. After flowering ends, it is necessary to cut off the flower stalks, which stimulates the plant to bloom again in the same year. Lupines are usually grown individually or in groups to create effective decor on beds; its height allows it to be used as a secondary growing part.
The root system of this species is taproot and can reach a depth of up to two meters, which contributes to soil loosening. Small nodes form on the roots, in which nitrogen is accumulated, enriching the soil. With long-term cultivation, it is necessary to monitor the growth of the root neck: if it rises above the surface, the plant may lose its decorative appearance and require mounding.
Lupine 'Grenade' combines well with other perennials - irises, hostas, lilies, astilbes, daisies and yarrow. This makes it an excellent choice for creating picturesque mixed beds.
