Alfalfa Venera

Optimized Alfalfa for High-Yield Forage

«Venera» alfalfa, developed by the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute (Ukraine), is a robust variety engineered to meet the demands of intensive livestock production. Agronomists select this variety for its ability to deliver consistent protein-rich yields despite the climatic challenges of the region.

Agronomic Performance and Field Efficiency

Reaching a height of 100 cm, «Venera» is perfectly suited for modern harvesting machinery. This height uniformity reduces harvesting losses and ensures efficient operation for both mowers and balers. Key advantages for field operations include:

• Rapid regrowth rate: High post-cutting performance allows for 3–4 harvests per season under standard management practices.
• Resilience: The deep and efficient root system provides excellent drought tolerance, ensuring field density remains stable during hot summer months.
• High leaf-to-stem ratio: The variety is noted for its lush foliage, which is essential for ensuring superior nutritional quality in hay and silage.

Operational Use and Farm Strategy

«Venera» is a cornerstone for farms aiming to minimize the cost of feed units per hectare. Its growth cycle is optimized for intensive rotation schemes, allowing farmers to predict harvest windows accurately. By choosing this variety, livestock managers secure a reliable source of green mass, hay, or silage, essential for milk and meat production. The durability of the stand is a significant benefit: under correct fertilization and harvesting cycles, «Venera» maintains productivity over several years, minimizing the need for premature reseeding and reducing total production costs.
