DescriptionMetsenat
The narrow-leaved lupin variety 'Mecenat' – an early-maturing, cover crop type, created as a result of long-term breeding work. It is distinguished by a rapid growth rate of plants in the initial period of vegetation and high yield: the average dry matter weight of green mass is 48.4 t/ha, and seeds – about 20 c/ha. Compared to the standard variety Kristall, 'Mecenat' provides an increase of approximately 1.1 t/ha in seed yield and more than 13 t/ha in green mass.
Key characteristics include a low alkaloid content (0.0072%) and high technicability. The plant is resistant to lodging (7 points), pod cracking, seed shedding on the plant, and anthracnose (9 points). Plant height is medium-tall, semi-erect, indeterminate. Leaves are light green, the flower is white with a yellow tip of the boat, the pod is of medium length.
For practical application, 'Mecenat' is recommended for sowing after grain crops on light and loamy soils, where it yields large harvests. The vegetation period from germination to seed maturity is 90–100 days, and when used as a cover crop – about 55 days. The variety is included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation and is recognized as technologically suitable for a wide range of agricultural production.
