Golden Dome is a variety of yellow lupine intended for universal use as both fodder and cover crop. The plant reaches a height of 70 to 72 cm, has dense branches and palmate leaves with 8–11 leaflets of broadly lanceolate shape. Flowers are yellow and fragrant, while pods are flattened, containing 3–5 seeds, and easily break upon maturation.
The variety is distinguished by high productivity: average seed yield is about 2.1 t/ha, potential yield – up to 2.5 t/ha. Mass of 1000 seeds is 112 g, protein content in raw form reaches 40.2 %. Alkaloids are present in minimal amounts (0.025 %), making the product safe for animal feeding.
Golden Dome is resistant to fusarium and viral diseases, and also shows good resistance to pod shattering and plant shedding before harvest. It grows well on sandy, acidic soils with moderate fertility and withstands frosts down to –4 °C. Thanks to high nutritional properties, seeds are used in compound feeds, while the plant as a cover crop ensures significant nitrogen and organic matter input into the soil.
