Lupin Golden Dome

Betting on Domestic Genetics: The Zolotyi Kupol Lupin

As the demand for cost-effective plant-based protein sources grows, Ukrainian farmers are increasingly turning to the breeding efforts of the Institute of Agricultural Microbiology. The 'Zolotyi Kupol' (Golden Dome) variety emerged as a market-driven solution, balancing high yield potential with reliable resistance to soil-borne pathogens.

Agronomic Profile and Biological Potential

This lupin variety is the result of years of research by Ukrainian plant breeders. Its primary advantage lies in the combination of compact morphology and intense nutrient accumulation. Reaching a height of 70–72 cm, the plants are optimized for efficient mechanized harvesting, minimizing field losses.

• Protein Content: With 40.2% protein in its dry matter, this variety is a strategic asset for the feed industry, allowing for balanced livestock rations without the need for expensive additives.
• Phytosanitary Resilience: A key achievement by the originator is the enhanced resistance to fusarium. This trait is critical in high-moisture regions or in systems where crop rotation is challenging, as fusarium remains one of the most severe threats to legume production.
• Versatility: The variety is positioned as a dual-purpose crop, suitable for commercial grain production as well as for use as a high-value green manure that enriches the soil with nitrogen.

Currently, 'Zolotyi Kupol' occupies a niche as a dependable solution for farms focused on lowering production costs. Through its adaptability to the Ukrainian climate, this variety provides consistent performance, reinforcing its reputation as high-quality domestic seed material.
