Lupin Mykolas Ručinskas

Genetic Profile and Ornamental Potential

The 'Makarivskyi' lupine variety is a selection developed by the National Scientific Center 'Institute of Agriculture of NAAS', specifically engineered for ornamental horticulture. Unlike forage or green manure forms, this variety is optimized for landscaping tasks, which defines its specific physiological indicators.

Morphological Parameters

The key characteristic of 'Makarivskyi' is its compactness. The vegetative height ranges between 45–50 cm. This habit structure serves as a significant advantage when creating dense group plantings, as the plant does not require additional staking and maintains vertical stability even under adverse weather conditions.

• Compact Growth: The dwarf stature allows for integration into the first tier of flower beds or border lines without the risk of shading adjacent species.
• Form Stability: Genetically programmed height parameters eliminate the need for crown shaping or intensive pruning.
• Ukrainian Breeding: Adaptation to Ukraine's climatic zones ensures high survival rates and predictable development within local soil and climate conditions.

Practical Application

The utility of 'Makarivskyi' in landscaping is based on its capacity to form a distinctive ornamental accent. Due to the selection efforts of the Institute of Agriculture of NAAS, the variety combines soil adaptability with the classic lupine inflorescence aesthetic. For a landscape designer, choosing this variety means working with a predictable visual volume, where controlled plant height prevents chaotic spreading and preserves the structural integrity of the planting throughout the entire growing season.
