The white lupin variety 'Michurinskij' is a compact shield-shaped plant of medium height (60–68 cm), erect and indeterminate. Leaves are green, the terminal leaflet is of medium size and width, and the flower is blue with a boat-shaped tip in a blue-black shade. Pods are long, the grain is white without ornamentation, and the mass of 1000 grains is 291 g.
Michurinskij is an early-maturing variety with an average vegetation period of about 108 days. Flowering begins early, and full ripening and green mass also occur early-to-medium, allowing for harvest in short periods. Grain yield is approximately 43.7 c/ha, green mass yield is 588 c/ha; both indicators are above standard values by 8 and 63 c/ha respectively.
The variety is for universal use: it can be grown as grain lupin for feed production, as well as green feed or silage. Protein content in grain ranges from 36–40%, fat from 8–10%, and alkaloids from 0.05–0.08%. High resistance to fusarium, as well as to shattering on the root, pod cracking, and lodging, make it suitable for a wide range of agro-ecosystems. Recommended for testing and implementation in farms of the Central Black Earth, North Caucasian, and Middle Volga regions.
The variety does not overgrow in excess rainfall and on increased agro-ecosystems, ensuring stable growth even in unfavorable climatic conditions. Thanks to simultaneous ripening and high yield, 'Michurinskij' is a valuable resource for farmers seeking efficient use of land with different growing conditions.
