The breeding development by the Institute of Agricultural Microbiology focuses on solving two critical challenges of intensive farming: stable green mass yields and pathogenic pressure. The «Yulian» variety exhibits an adaptive architecture that allows for highly efficient conversion of solar energy into vegetative mass.

Phytosanitary Resistance as a Profitability Basis

The primary engineering goal in developing this variety was to mitigate risks associated with the most hazardous legume diseases:

• Anthracnose: The genetic resistance of this variety prevents infection of stems and pods, which is critical when cultivating in high-humidity environments.
• Fusarium: The root system possesses a specific immune response that blocks pathogen penetration into the plant's vascular system, even during stress-inducing temperature fluctuations.

Productivity and Agronomic Metrics

The green mass yield, ranging from 35 to 45 tons per hectare, is achieved through high photosynthetic intensity and optimized leaf canopy architecture. Under Ukrainian soil and climatic conditions, the variety demonstrates excellent responsiveness to nitrogen-fixing inoculants, which reduces the cost per ton of production. It is an optimal solution for farms focused on green manure and forage production, where rapid biomass accumulation without nutrient loss is essential.
